Kumbhalgarh, India -looks like a pretty strong fort (citadel) to me! *The Indus Valley Civilization
stopped just north of the Harappa because the climate became too cold and the land too hilly to farm. *The factors that probably caused a strong central government
to emerge in the Indus Valley consisted of the facts that the cities in the valley were linked by the river and had similar
economies and ways of living. People had surpluses of food. Maybe those surpluses were used to pay taxes to support
a central government? *Traders transported goods to Mohenjo-Daro by ship,
foot, and carts.
* People were attracted to the city of Mohenjo-Daro
because of its nice paved streets and river port. What else did we discuss in class that was an attraction of the city
of Mohenjo-Daro? *Sanskrit is one of the oldest languages in the world!
*After the collapse of the Harappan civilization, the Aryans took over about 100 years
later.
 < Aryan origin of India
*The Aryan way of life
was different from that of the Harappan civilization becase the Aryans were animal herders and had a different language and
religion. *Life in the early Indus Valley cities wasn't bad at all!
People lived comfortably in cities that were planned with paved streets and sanitation systems. The cities had apartment
buildings, citadels, humongous grain storehouses, and even pool sized baths! Not bad, eh? *The Harappans were able to make bricks that were exactly the same by using molds.
*Trade allowed people
of the Indus River Valley to get things they did not have or maybe even have access to! Moreover, trade let people specialize
and become even wealthier.
