Clearly, Spartan culture was militaristic. Spartans lived life as if defending their
city was the most important thing in the world.

Spartans did not fear death.
Athenian girls worked in their homes.

practiced sports and trained to be physically strong.
Athenian boys did not go to school. They worked with
their fathers as potters, farmers, and stoneworkers.
Spartan boys were educated and spent most of their time training

places every 4 years.

The first Olympic Games had only one race and lasted just 1 day! After the 14th Olympics a second race was
added.
There used to be competitions in music, speaking skills, and theater as well and they all counted
as Olympic events.
