Our next writing assignment will be written in the form of poetry.

It is important to look into controversial issues with an open mind and examine all sides of the story.
The most important thing is to find the truth!

A current topic that many students have expressed interest in is the war in Iraq.

Some facts that we need to consider are as follows:
1. Economically, the U.S. is in terrible
shape right now. That excludes the affluent population that our President leads.
 2. Many people are struggling on a daily basis here in the U.S. Even the value of the dollar has dropped
to a shameful low. Our dollar is worth half of the British pound and a little over half of the euro. Therefore,
it is very expensive for an American to travel.

3. Our country is spending comparable amounts of tax payer's money to what we spent in Vietnam.
4. The President of our country has spent approximately $107 billion dollars so far on the Iraq war according to some
extensive research that I did.
 5. In addition to the $107 billion, we are spending additional money in Iraq to reconstuct their homeland.
We're making sure they have electricity and good housing. Congress is somewhat unclear as to what their role is in the
financial accountability of President Bush's spending.

6. In the past, our country has prospered because of war because people were put to work.
7. We went to Iraq to destroy WMD's (Weapons of Mass Destruction) that we were told existed in Iraq.
8.
Iraq is an appealing country because of its oil. President Bush, in fact, is connected to oil in more than one way.

9. After 9-11, we caught Saddam Hussein and hung him on live T.V. Osama Bin Laden is yet to be found.
10. We want to set up democracy in a country that, in fact, wants us to leave. It is important that
we read through what the media presents to us on the T.V. and the radio.
11. According to what has been reported,
over 4,000 American soldiers lost their lives bravely for our country so far!
Even if we can set up a democracy
in Iraq will that prove that we will be safe? There are many questions you are probably thinking of as you have read
the above. Please write down your questions and ideas as we will use them to start writing poetry.
